Winter Farmers Market - Jeffersonville - Every Saturday through April.  The farmers market is heading indoors for the winter.  First Presbyterian Church in Downtown Jeffersonville is allowing the market to set up in its gym at Chestnut & Walnut Street through April.  At first there will be 5-6 vendors selling, among other things, baked good, tomatoes (not shipped in, but grown in a local greenhouse) and some late season produce.  Coming weeks poultry, honey, jellies and hummus will be added. Permanent Exhibit - Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage: Men and Women of the Underground Railroad in the Indiana and Kentucky Borderland -  Carnegie Center for Art and History in New Albany.  This exhibit examines the nature of the antislavery community in Floyd County, Indiana, and places it in a regional and national context by describing the social, economic and cultural contours of the Falls region of the Ohio River Valley. Based on the book by Pamela Peters titled The Underground Railroad in Floyd County (North Carolina, 2001), the project contributes to the work by scholars such as Dr. Blaine Hudson at the University of Louisville, whose ongoing re-evaluation of the abolitionist movement has led to increased interest in the Underground Railroad.  201 E. February 5 - March 12- Crit Club Art Show, Gallery on Pearl, New Albany - The Gallery on Pearl LLC is sponsoring a show opening Feb 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring a juried two-dimensional art show by members of The Floyd County Crit Club.  The show, entitled "Crit Club: Annual Exhibition 2010" will continue through March 12. February 12 - A Chocolate Affair to Remember, 7:30 pm - Enjoy a special Valentines evening with someone special at The Arts Council of Southern Indiana  fund raiser, A Chocolate Affair to Remember. March 20 - Quilters' Day Out  -  In celebration of National Quilters' Day Out, the Sew-n-Tell Quilt Guild of New Albany will be sponsoring its Third Annual Southern Indiana Quilter's Day Out on March 20, 2010.  In order to accommodate the ever growing number of attendees, we will be holding the event at a new location this year.  The First Church of God located on the corner of Silver Street and Charlestown Road in New Albany has graciously allowed us to use the Harvest Hall, located in the lower level of the church, for our event.  There are elevators available to provide access for those unable to use the stairs.  The outing will begin at 10:00AM and end at 3:00PM.  Door prizes will be given every half hour and Grand Prize drawings will be held at 11:30AM and 2:30PM.  (must be present to win) $2.00 donation at the door.  This event is open to all quilt enthusiasts and will include demonstrations, door prizes, vendors, guild quilts on display, and the opportunity to meet and sew with other quilters.  Electricity will be available for those who wish to bring their sewing machines.  Concessions will be available or you may bring your own.  The first 50 quilters will receive a free Donna Sharp, Inc Tote Bag.  For more information, contact Carol Fridley at 812-945-9507 or Lisa Thilo at lisa.thilo@insightbb.com

August - Celtic Festival, Amphitheater, New Albany - Kentuckiana Celtic Fest will hold an inaugural concert, "Celts on the River," from 3 to 11p.m. Saturday at the New Albany Riverfront Amphitheater, where Pearl Street meets the Ohio River.  The free concert will feature headliner Brendan Lougherty from Donegal, Ireland.  Local artists Men of Thunda, The Derby Boys, Cloigheann, Keltricity, Guilderoy Byrne and Liam's Fancy will also perform.  Along with music, food and drinks, there will be Celtic informational booths.  Visitors should bring blankets or chairs for seating but should not bring pets, outside food, alcoholic beverages or coolers.  The new Celtic organization is also working with Blessings in a Backpack, a nonprofit organization that collects backpacks filled with food for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.  For more information about the Celtic organization or the concert, go to www.kentuckianacelticfest.com

August  - Touch A Truck in Clarksville - Clarksville Town Hall - Touch A Truck returns to the Clarksville Town Hall/Community Center from 10 a.m. to noon.  This is a chance for children of all ages to get up close and personal with their favorite big rig, police cars, fire trucks or school bus, and many other vehicles will be on display for children to look at, explore, possibly even climb on or sit in.  Admission to Touch A Truck is free.  No preregistration is required.  If anyone is interested in bringing a truck for display at the event call (812) 283-5313.

September  - Annual Hidden Hill Bluegrass Extravaganza from 12 noon to 8 pm featuring four bluegrass and old-time music bands. The nursery will unveil its new "Fairies Wheel", a 15-foot ferris wheel decorated with ceramic fairies done by Louisville Clay at 2 pm, and their new Double-Decker garden train at 4 pm. September 18 - Fossil Festival, Falls of the Ohio, Clarksville - This event, sponsored by the Falls of the Ohio Foundation, features:
Guest speakers and workshops for hobbyists, educators and anyone curious about fossils, and earth's history.  Saturday afternoon programs include:
-    The Geology of Coal and Carbon Issues - Dr. Steve Greb, Kentucky Geological Survey
-    Fossils in the Ohio Valley - Dan Phelps, Kentucky Paleontological Society
-    Minerals of the Ohio Valley - Charles Oldham, Crestwood, Kentucky
-    Minerals and Life - Dr. Nelson Shaffer, Indiana Geological Survey
On Sunday afternoon, Fossil Collect Tips - Rick Schrantz, Kentucky Paleontological Society
- More than a dozen vendors selling fossils, minerals, educational material and food line the parking lot.
- Collect Silurian and Devonian fossils from special rock piles (more than 30 tons) donated and staffed by Hanson Aggregates.  (Fossil collecting is not permitted anywhere else in the park.)  Typically 800 to 900 kids of all ages search for "treasures" to take home.
- Mineral collecting pile from Rosiclare, Illinois!  Look for fluorite and other colorful minerals.
- Children's Activity Area with a variety of crafts activities scheduled, including pet rocks, weather rocks, and more - courtesy of the Kyana Geological Society and the Girl Scouts of America.
- Resource Tent where you can get fossils and rocks identified by members of the Indiana Society for Paleontology, the Kentucky Paleontological Society and the Kyana Geological Society - bring in your mystery rocks!  Pick up information from many other fossil parks in North America, as well as information and free literature from the Indiana and Kentucky Geological Surveys and other organizations.
- Enjoy guided walks on the fossil beds, including extended hikes on the outer fossil beds (river level permitting).
- For teachers - special educator's workshop on geology and fossils and the chance to win one of three geology collections for the classroom.
Proceeds benefit the education programs at the Falls of the Ohio State Park, which reach some 12,000 students each year!

October - Oktoberfest on the River, Rocky's Sub Pub and Buckhead Mountain Grill, Jeffersonville Riverfront; Rocky's and Buckhead's are teaming up to host Oktoberfest on the River which will feature live music and impressive beer lineup (20 craft, import, and Oktoberfest style beers on hand, including selections from the Bluegrass Brewing Company and the New Albanian Brewing Company); Food will also be available for purchase; The Sharpenstein Polka Band will perform 2:30 - 5:30 p.m., while Josh Glauber and Holly Jackson will provide the evening entertainment beginning at 8 p.m.; Entry fee is $5 person and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Clark County Red Cross

October - Fourth Annual Legends of Charlestown, Charlestown State Park, Highway 62, Charlestown; Weekend events trace the history of Charlestown from settlements of early Native Americans, to the launching point of the Lewis and Clark Expedition just down the river, to the great flood of 1937 and the construction of the Indiana Army Ammunition plant along Indiana 62 during World War II.  Reenactors from the Revolutionary War, Civil War and World War II eras are planning to attend the event.  Other events include local legend hike, a night woods walk and videos from local historians Tom Chapman and Troy McCormick of the former Rose Island amusement park and the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant, respectively. November  - Light Up Charlestown - Greenway Park, - Be sure to be in Greenway Park at 6:20 p.m. when Mayor Bob Hall and Clerk Treasurer Donna Coomer welcome the crowd to Light Up Charlestown. At 6:45, Hall and Coomer will lead the countdown to the light up, and at 6:45 the lights will come on!  The Concession Stand will open at 5 p.m. on the day of Light Up Charlestown, where the Charlestown Beautification Committee will sell hot chocolate, while the Charlestown High School Cheerleaders and Charlestown High School Theatre will sell baked goods.
