SoIN to Arts & Culture

Southern Indiana boasts a rich history as a gateway to the North. This history is woven into the area’s fabric. Many public art projects are dedicated to this. Stop in The Carnegie Center for Art and History to see both historical exhibits and contemporary art installations that interpret current events and speak to Indiana’s culture. Visit the Howard Steamboat Museum to learn about the area's shipbuilding history.

For information about other art events, the Arts Alliance of Southern IndianaArtSeed Gallery, and Jeffersonville Arts Alliance are good bets. All three develop and preserve the dynamic cultural and artistic richness in our area.

We’re not just makers here; we’re performers, too.

Theater is a big deal in SoIN. The area supports a vibrant stage culture, with award-winning performing arts programs, as well as professional theater companies. Young people have ample opportunities to participate while in school, and then step into professional roles. Derby Dinner Playhouse, Clarksville Little Theatre and Theatreworks of Southern Indiana are three that you can sample when you visit.
